Providing and preserving photographs for children in foster care

Preserving Photos

GOAL: To safeguard a child’s photographs so that they are available now and for years to come.

While keeping photos may seem straight-forward for most of us, it is a daunting challenge for children in care and, frequently, for the adults in their life. Storing photographs for children and their future generations is a central goal of Photo Safe, and we preserve the images indefinitely, even after a child leaves care.

All photographs are archived on redundant, secure servers that are accessible by Photo Safe staff only. Each photo has been tagged with multiple identifiers for the child so that it can easily be located, even decades from now.

Capture memories, relationships and changing appearances Provide framed photos and photo gifts for foster youth, parents, and caregivers Preserve children’s albums for a lifetime of enjoyment and sharing with future generations

“Not having photos hurts. I have only one photo – of me and my mom before she passed. That picture means everything to me. I don’t have any pictures with family members, and I can’t see myself as a child.”
